If you read the fine print of the contest, you’ll find that you give Ellwood Thompson all intellectual property rights. So, you get a lousy gift card (or nothing if you don’t win), and they get a sweet design that they can go sell to others. There should be some sort of clause that the winning design must be available for everyone to use for free (ala CC license) or something like that, not ET’s OWNS the design. Needless to say, this won’t be going up on WOTBN.
Whoa that is craptacular. Yeah on spec design contests are usually crappy like that. I wonder if they would be amenable to opening up the license for it.
Or at least allow the creator to maintain some of the copyright.
