I harvested our first flush of asparagus yesterday morning, our 60+ plants of garlic are going gangbusters, and thanks to a gentle winter, some of our lettuce will be ready for harvest in about a week.
The beets, spinach, chard, potatoes, carrots, and cucumbers are coming up nicely. The strawberries, blueberries, and blackberries are waking up now that the warmer weather is here. Heck, I’ve even got pumpkins growing out by the compost heap.
In a couple of weeks, we’ll get our corn and squash planted, along with the tomatoes and herbs to finish out the garden.
All planted in less than 150 sq. ft. so don’t tell me you don’t have room. No excuses! You should hit the garden center today and plant something.
There’s nothing better than watching something grow…and then eating it!
@Ross - What’s really crazy is how fast it grows. Seriously, I’ll go out and check on things around 4:30am when I get up and the spears are just poking out of the dirt. By dinner, they’re 7″ tall and ready to eat. It’s like super-food.
So plant something already!

Dude how crazy does asparagus look! I saw it for the first time at Monticello a while back. I am envious of your garden!
