Max OS, Leopard: first thoughts
So I got Leopard in the mail about six hours before the official in-story launch date. Here are my initial thoughts after a day of using it:
- I bought a family pack for 199$ so I could install it on my wife’s computer. What a steal for five licenses!
- The install took about an hour. I opted to check the DVD media before install and that took another half hour or so.
- All my settings seem to be intact. The only thing weird I’ve noticed thus far is Chax seems to be missing. I’m not sure I will keep using Chax since iChat’s got tabs now.
- I love love love the movie times / trailer dashboard widget. That thing is awesome.
- I backed up my joint using “Time Machine.” It was really easy assuming it worked. All I did was plug in my external drive. Seriously that is it.
- I’m getting used to Spaces. I’m not sure I will use them. I will say that showing all of your Spaces and then using Expose is pretty awesome.
Maybe I’ll weigh back in later with some more thoughts.
I had that thing happen where it took like 10 minutes for my target drive to show up.

dude one thing i miss in windows and osx is virtual desktops. i use the heck out of them when i’m in linuxland. so i am excited more about spaces i think than any other feature.
i havent used them at all though so who knows.
