In my ongoing effort to conquer Richmond’s small corner of the internet PharrOut has released RVANews. RVANews aggregates the local community blogs into one steaming pot of goodness. Then it adds a steaming scoop of original content that has probably been marinating in bacon for the last several days. What isn’t made better by several days of bacon-marination? Nothing I say.
Anyway it is my latest awesomest project, and you should check it out.

So I got Leopard in the mail about six hours before the official in-story launch date. Here are my initial thoughts after a day of using it:
- I bought a family pack for 199$ so I could install it on my wife’s computer. What a steal for five licenses!
- The install took about an hour. I opted to check the DVD media before install and that took another half hour or so.
- All my settings seem to be intact. The only thing weird I’ve noticed thus far is Chax seems to be missing. I’m not sure I will keep using Chax since iChat’s got tabs now.
- I love love love the movie times / trailer dashboard widget. That thing is awesome.
- I backed up my joint using “Time Machine.” It was really easy assuming it worked. All I did was plug in my external drive. Seriously that is it.
- I’m getting used to Spaces. I’m not sure I will use them. I will say that showing all of your Spaces and then using Expose is pretty awesome.
Maybe I’ll weigh back in later with some more thoughts.

Sad news — the RTD “removed” Pete Humes from Brick Weekly. The weekly is now morphing into a “life-stage, lifestyle publication.” BORING. Z!
I’ll tell you who is awesome: Pete Humes. I will also tell you who is not awesome: the RTD.
What are the odds that Humes ditches Richmond for a city that actually appreciates him? You can write snarky features for me any day of the week buddy. Maybe one day I can even pay you!

Read about it here. Here is a sad picture of Tom pining away for his (soon to be) dead wife.

We just got back from Richmond’ sonly Sonic — in Chesterfield. Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is on the tube and I’m pretty sure Wonka is singing about Sonic:
If you want to view paradise
Simply look around and view it…
Anything you want to, do it…
Want to change the world, there’s nothing to it
Guys. You really can do anything you want: you can add nacho cheese or chili to *any* menu item. WTF AWESOME. I had an Extra Long Bacon Cheddar Cheesesteak, cheese fries, and a vanilla malt. Valerie, after her disparaging remarks, said going to Sonic was “maybe the best idea you’ve ever had.”
Also you eat in your car it’s like a vacation.
OMG EXCELLENT.

Style Weekly ran a couple articles this week about the Mayor ditching current CAO Harry Black in favor of Virginia Lottery head Sheila Hill-Christian. The shakeup is a “compromise” between Council and the Mayor, somehow. IANAL but I’m pretty sure Council has to approve the CAO appointed by the Mayor. Black was voted against twice — yet he still does the job. The Mayor is a political genius for walking away with this as a compromise.
Anyway, the tone of both articles is that Richmond needs someone who can stand up to Wilder and say “No!” to his crazy tyrannical demands. Apparently Sheila is going to be better at this than Harry Black.
…
I’ve met Harry Black one time, in a meeting. He was probably one of the most forceful and intimidating dudes I have ever met. Not rude or anything like that; he just knew how to run a meeting. I can’t see this guy being a yes man to anyone, not even ol’ King Wilder.
