Hokies beat Duke … in basketball?

Me and roundball generally aren’t the best of friends. But any time VT scores a win over a top 5 team in any sport I get excited. I think Duke:Basketball::Miami:football for the Hokies. As in WE WILL OWNz YOU 4 LIFE. Or not.

Are you old enough to remember Tech beating then-#2 Memphis State in like 1986? That was the same weekend, I think, that UVa beat #1 UNC.
That was a great shot and a great game. I’m not typically a Hokie fan (prefering UVA as it is) but anytime someone smacks Duke around, especially when it’s in the ACC, I’m lovin’ it.
That ’86 win was the last time VT beat a top 5 opponent. Also Duke is like 115-2 against unranked opponents at home. That is kind of an insane stat.
Yeah, but has VT ever beaten a team that finished the season undefeated?!!??
0 – 0 is NOT a respectable record, even if you can technically say undefeated
