Dear Ohio State,
I’m sorry that the Florida Gators and Urban Myer made you look like a bunch of chumps. I am also sorry that “the best player in college football” went 4 of 14 for 35 yards and an interception. Maybe you should give your big heavy trophy to Adrien Peterson — since he should have won it as a freshman.
But I do want to thank you for making Boise State the sweetest national champion team ever. So thanks. CHOMP CHOMP!

Also ross is being sarcastic about boise state. But they did get 1 number one AP vote. Even though the AP poll doesn’t matter.

Am I being sarcastic? I mean I guess so, although no one has played a better game this bowl season than them *and* they are undefeated. Lets put them and florida together.

I mean, half of everyone knew that Michigan was the #2 team in the country two weeks ago. I don’t know anything for sure. Probably Boise State would lose, but they would have probably lost to Oklahoma too.

some talking head was ripping that 1 boise state voter guy on sports radio today. for like 30 minutes. he said he should lose his vote altogether.

yet he still picked boise, which makes no sense to me as an explanation?
That’s because that isn’t the explanation. Here is his explanation, from your article:
“They’re the only unbeaten in Division I-A.”
I mean, that sounds reasonable to me. I disagree and I wouldn’t have done the same, but it’s not like he’s completely irrational. It’s not like he voted for “New Mexico State” or something.
BTW, and I know I’m preaching to the choir here, but it seems to me that if there was a “right way” to vote for these things (schedule, best wins, worst wins, best losses, worst losses, some fixed and deterministic combination of all of these) then maybe they wouldn’t have to ask people to fricking vote on it at the end of the season like it was a popularity contest.
I mean, everyone KNOWS that Jessica is way hotter than Emily, and people are only voting for Emily as homecoming queen because she’s a total slut.
Also, last of all, who gives a crap about the AP poll anyway? Does it even mean anything at all? Can we make the Haduken poll next year please?
he didn’t sound rational at all on the radio. it was like, “explain how you picked boise state #1″ … “uhhh, i just thought they were the only undefeated team and that’s really hard to do; i mean, uhhh, i think florida would beat them 95% of the time, but uhhh, that was a really good game they played and uhhh…” but he definitely was a bumbling contradiction from what i heard. actually, he sounded drunk. the 95% thing is what the radio guys picked on bc in his supposed reason for picking boise he seemed to say that he knew they weren’t the best team. i think it was mike and mike or maybe the herd?
i think the ap poll still matters bc can’t they still have co-national champs with the title game and the ap? or did they get rid of that? if there were more MaxPowers in the world, we might have a Florida-Boise State co-champion in the ncaa books FOREVER.

Also, yes let us do a haduken poll, but lets just do it as a human poll. We can all vote and stuff. It will be awesome.
No I mean as far as the NCAA is concerned they made it so that the coach’s poll has to vote #1 for who wins the NCG and that is the official champion, and everything else is just whatever.
I can’t remember if that happened when the AP pulled out or what, but i know it happened.
No that is what I’m saying. I would have a vote, and nic and wolf and MaxPower and whoever else wanted one I guess, and each rank would have points, and we would publish the results every week on the site.
if only haduken reached 1 or 2 more people, we might be able to have our rank count in the ap. although, someone might have a problem when VT is always #1 no matter what.
I will not paticipate until like week 6. I just don’t think I can get a clear picture until then
I mean you could participate, the thing is you would know in your brain that you could drastically change team’s rankings mid-season. Like you could not let the early season bias effect you. As long as you knew it existed.
See I actually think there can be something to early season rankings, I just never read or listen to anything about recruiting, so I don’t feel like my early season ranking would be based on anything. But I guess as long as I have USC, Texas, Michigan, Ohio State, and the like in the top 5 no one will notice anything else. (Tulsa #6!)
