Finding staples at Staples®

by: Wolf

True story.
Friday, I went to Staples to buy staples. Seemed like a pretty good plan. Now, one might think that Staples would dedicate some elaborate glowing homage to its namesake product, but one would be wrong. Instead, they love staples so much that they put “Staples®” on everything they sell, so finding staples among all the Staples is nearly impossible. Eventually, I found them, right under the Staples® tape and Staples® paper clips. I felt like I was part of a Seinfeld episode or something.

  1. I know of what you speak. We buy a lot of our office supplies from Staples and one day, while a volunteer was working in the library, she asked me if I had any staples. I reached into my drawer, grabbed a box that said “Staples,” and handed them to her. She came back a second later and said, “these are paper clips.”

It must be some kind of name association thing, cause let’s face it, a paper clip box looks nothing like a box of staples. And if you actually look at it, there’s even a picture of paper clips on the box!
