Roundaboots not just for Canadians

by: Ross

NCB12 has an article up about the roundabout at the Robert E. Lee statue (via snoopy). They claim that citizens claim the roundabout is less safe than the previous traffic pattern. In case you were unfamiliar, roundabouts work because they require everyone coming into the intersection to yield to traffic in the roundabout. In fact it is pretty sweet to get on a bicycle and zip around and around the monument — because you always have the right away.

But when people don’t yield, bad things happen. First, the problem is not the roundabout, the problem is the jackholes who don’t know what a yield sign means. Second roundabouts are far superior to other intersections. I mean look at JEB Stuart Circle. That place sucks and is way confusing. People not from the city have no idea how to navigate that circle. I’ve been in cars with people who’ve nearly run the light going North to South twice in the past two weeks. It is a mess.

But roundabouts are intuitive and simple and safe. So quit bitching Richmond, and learn how roads work.

Why to read RVABlogs

by: Ross

I just read a post with this title: Richmond sucks less than a zombie horde.

I’m not smart enough to comment on the creative worth of the poetry/prose on the The Shambling Darkness Project, but I do know that is the awesomest (spell checker suggestion: “Awesome St.”) blog title I’ve read in a while.
