New Tech Trends!

Less organization, more cool things to look at!

I have always wondered if this would ever be a thing, it seems to have infinite potential for gaming and movie nights. When will we all have holographic tv’s?

Why do lightbulbs have to burn out? So that GE can make money I think, well if they don’t get cracking their market will disapear thanks to the magic of the LED

Going backpacking but don’t want to give up your favorite mmo rpg? Well, this technology isn’t exactly new but I mention it because it is getting smaller, and more managable Broadband Inet via satellite

I hate signing my name on a piece of paper that no one looks at as a validation method for credit cards, is this the future? I don’t know but Charlotte NC is trying it out.

Whether or not you are a microsoft fan their new Windows Mobile 5 has the potential of getting more people to jump on the smart phone train.

This is one amazing idea, wish that I would have had it. Imagine being on the 20th floor when you realize your meter is about to run out, NO PROBLEM?!?!

A while back I asked if anyone used Skype and none of you even wanted to talk about it. Turns out it just might be the wave of the future. VoIP is huge in places other than the US, skype offers a complete VoIP package that is el cheapo. We are talking 2 pennies a minute to call anywhere in the world cheap, or free if you call skype to skype. In the not too distant future you will be able to have cell phones that work on skype technology. They also offer email, instant messaging, I think video but am not 100% on that one. All skype employees use skype exclusively for communication.

Looks Palm is trying not to be phased out.

The idea here is that you won’t have to hand your card to the clerk behind the counter so that they can either forget to give you your card back or, write down your number, or however ID theft happens. It also may lead to the inovation Max dreams of, being able to wire his friends money with his credit card. Not sure if getting the first generation would be a good idea but here is a link if you want to check it out: click

I am easily amazed by small things with lots of storage

Replacement for Google? Are you laughing? This search engine offers AI

When are they going to get this gun in Halo?

Best link on the week: GuardRobo

This seems like a bad idea to me, but cvs is offering disposable camcorders

  1. XM25 Prototypes in testing – 500% lethality increase over existing weapon systems

    Hahahah. Awesome.

Some things that have interested me are portable solar chargers. This has been going around for awhile. Add in the satellite broadband, and you’ve got something pretty awesome.

For me the most important tech to improve is solar power. At sea level the sun is dishing out 1020 W of power per square meter?!? We *need* to get at that. Last month (or the month before?) wired had a great article on using solar/alternative power sources and moving partially off the grid. Man how awesome would that be? Plus the feds *and* the state give you tax credits. *And* you can sell back the power to the power company.

  2. i am working with windows ce here at work, which i think is basically the same thing as windows mobile. let me just say it is the most frustrating thing in the world to develop for.

also, my favorite new gun is the microwave gun for crowd control. you shoot it at someone and it makes the water in their skin boil, causing unbearable pain but causing no permanent damage. cant wait to get a couple of those in guantanamo, then we’ll get some real answers!

  3. Also that gun you linked to reminds me of the machine gun/grenade launcher from Half Life.

  4. midas - I tried to do some CE development in the past and it ate my soul, so I told my boss what he wanted would require going back to the contractors with brand new specifications… that got me out of that one.

  5. Hahah dude, I pull that one all the time. I think windows programing in general is difficult. With web programing you know the flow of things pretty well, with windows, WHO KNOWS MAN.
