Luray Caverns: Underground Romance
by i heart dorks
Our travel plans thwarted by forecasted snow in the state park midas and I were planning on visiting, we choose to live out a year’s long dream and celebrate our 2.0 underground.
Under the excellent guidemanship of Luray Caverns tour trainee, Chase, we navigated the tunnels of the several million year old cave with ease -and discovered the true meaning of friendship.
Here is our story in pictures and some words.

This is an unrelated photo of midas in hell.

This is that cool reflecting pool. At this point we were stuck behind three slow moving Asian ladies, one of whom videotaped absolutely everything. Still photogrphy really does fail to capture all the intense action a giant pile of rocks has to offer.

Chase, in his sweaky 14 year old voice, showed us something one waits a lifetime to feast their eyes on this, “the oldest, biggest, dirtiest set of false teeth”…in the WORLD!?!

It’s good to have a nerdy bf who can point out all the geologic structures our tourguide missed.

Like this, the Hall of Penises.

Before we took this, midas got high and I stretched my nostrils to the size of nickels.
I went to Luray Caverns with my family when I was about 7 years old, I remember the upside down ice cream cone and the glorious gift shop where I purchased a shark’s tooth necklace. I eagerly awaited my trumphant return there.

Uh-oh, somebody loves nature.
Then we drove home in the pouring rain. A good time was had by all.
Hahah nature shirts!
That sounds fun, I hope you guys had a good time.
when chase said the false teeth thing, it was one of those things where someone who tells jokes all the time but they are never funny, suddenly out of the blue cracks something that actually is pretty good, and while you are more suprised than amused, you still choke out this involuntary dopey half-chuckle, like “ghuh huh.”
